Di & Matt, my good college friend and her husband, drove down from Chicago to visit this weekend. Saturday afternoon, we went to Grant's Farm, a wildlife preserve/petting zoo/beer tasting attraction in St. Louis. Thomas slept through most of the afternoon, but we enjoyed ourselves! We started out by the clydesdales (if the beer tasting didn't tip you off, yes, this is associated with Anheuser-Busch). Since it's springtime, there were babies everywhere--humans, clydesdales, buffalo, and goats. We took the tram ride through the preserve, watched the baby goats, and admired the peacocks, toucans, elephants, and Matt's favorite, the lemurs. The baby goat pen was filled with little kids chasing goats with milk-filled bottles, which we could have watched for hours. One goat sucked on Matt's finger!
The five us went out to dinner and brunch, and Thomas slept through both of those too, which was great. We also took advantage of the nice weather and walked through the park by our house. Diane read Thomas the book she gave him, The Giving Tree. We're so glad Di and Matt could come visit and spend some time with the three of us. They gave Thomas plenty of attention, and he rewarded them with smiles. :)
