Iceman weekend

The first weekend in November we headed up to Traverse City so that Ed could participate in the Iceman Cometh Challenge, a 29-mile point-to-point mountain bike race. My aunt and uncle live in Traverse City, so they came to the race as well, and then went back to their house to hang out for a while.

Here's Ed finishing. He took a spectacular fall early in the race and had a bruise/lump combo that lasted for about a month. The day was chilly, but in past years there had been snow, so we couldn't complain!

After the actual race, there are mini races for the kids. The boys were thrilled to participate! The race was a couple hundred yards, ending at the finish line. The kids loved riding on the course, and I think the highlight was the inflatable tunnel at the end, after the finish line. They also got medals.
Thomas had a little trouble because the race was crowded and he ended up with the little kids (on striders or with training wheels) and had a hard time keeping the momentum going on his 2-wheel bike. Jojo zoomed right along. You can see them both in this video Ed took--Jojo zooms by in the blue coat and TJ is right on his back wheel in the red coat.

In the photo tent afterwards:

The four of us after all the races.
